Janesville Gazette Article

After the Edgerton Autism Group meeting Sunday, we found out from the newspaper reporter when everyone had left, that the article wil be on the front page (above the fold) of this Sunday's Janesville Gazetter! Circulation of over 75,000 copies... we're going to need a LOT bigger place for the next meeting and some very dedicated members to help us organize. That way we can make this group a success, and also be a constant and reliable presence in the community.

Meeting Update

We will be having our second meeting on Sunday, February 13th at 1:30pm. Once again it will be held at Discovering Our World Learning Center. Hopefully we won't get another blizzard and can get a beter turnout this time.  Hope to see you there.

I am VERY proud to announce that the Edgerton Autism Group is already getting quite a bit of attention. The Edgerton Reporter ran a front page story on us this week! They went as far as to interview faculty members from the school district and even quoted the elementary school psychologist, Cyril Converse, as saying that what we are trying to do with the EAG is "great" and "will serve as a much needed sounding board".

We've also recieved several donations this week which will help out with our first meeting this Saturday.  Dr. Jay Peterson, of Peterson Chiropractics, gave us a check to put towards refreshments. Brandon Whitmore, owner of Paul Revere's Pizza, is giving us a wonderful deal on food. Edgerton Health Mart Pharmacy donated some Edgerton Tiders' sports bottles that we will be giving away as door prizes.

It's safe to say that we've already made more of an impact than I was expecting... and our firsst meeting isn't for another two days! What a great feeling.

Clockwise from left to right, is my wife Sarah; our oldest son, Taylor; myself (Leigh Pierce); owner of the center where we hold our meetings, Brenda Hyams; and in the middle, my angelic little reason for all of this, Johnny.

Welcome to the Edgerton Autism Group

.  I thought I should introduce myself.  Our family is in the process of starting a social group for families dealing with ASD.  We're located in Edgerton, WI.  We're trying to make it possible for once a month to be able to take your family out to eat without having the employees and customers giving you dirty looks and making comments.  Instead it would be with other people dealing with a similar situation and more than likely, similar experiences to share.  We're located in Southern Wisconsin and are looking for other people who may be interested in joining, helping or even willing to give advice.
